At Kinnu, we care about your personal data. This privacy policy will inform you as to how we collect, process, and use your personal data when you use our website or mobile apps. It also outlines your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

This privacy policy applies to Kinnu Limited, a company incorporated and registered in England and Wales with company number 13770755 whose registered office is c/o Mishcon De Reya, Africa House, 70 Kingsway, London, England, WC2B 6AH. References to “Kinnu”, “we”, “us”, or “our” in this policy are references to Kinnu Limited.

We keep our privacy policy under regular review, and we may update it to reflect changes to our information practices. If the changes are material, we will post a notice notifying you that we have made changes on the website before they come into force. 

What information do we collect and when?

  • When you create and log into your account we will collect your name, email address, and your payment details (if relevant). We will also ask you to create a password for your account. We collect this in order to take steps to enter into a contract with you and allow you to purchase subscriptions via our app and website.
  • When you create a tailored profile and provide us with your interests we will collect non-essential preference information. We collect this personal data with your consent and use it to provide you with a tailored experience on our app and website and also use it to share information with you about Kinnu’s services which we think you would like.
  • When you use our app or website we may track your use of our services and platforms including what you choose to study, interactions with the website, your login activity and avatar creation. We may also collect data about the device you use to access our services, including operating system details, web browser type, mobile operating system, and the name of your ISP or mobile carrier. We may also collect and infer your general location (for example, at a country or city level based on your permission and/or device settings and jurisdiction). We collect this information as it is in our legitimate interest to track this information so that we can improve our services and monitor the use of our services to check for malicious and suspicious activity.
  • When you use our AI chat function we may collect, and store prompts and responses used during the chat. We do this so that we can monitor the use of this function, its accuracy, and usefulness, improve the chat’s capabilities, and safeguard against misuse of the AI. We do this as it is in our legitimate interest to ensure that the AI chat functions as it should and is not being used improperly.
  • When you join our WhatsApp Community we may collect the phone number associated with your WhatsApp account. We may also collect the contents of your messages. We do this as it is in our legitimate interest to understand the needs of our customers and to post and respond to messages.
  • When you contact us either by phone, email, via our ‘contact us’ page or via social media, we will usually collect your name, social media handle and/or contact details as well as the contents of your message, because it’s in our legitimate interest to make sure we can properly respond to your query.
  • To send you marketing information. Where you have previously expressed an interest in our services (and have not opted-out of marketing) we will use your name, phone number and email address to send you updates because it is in our legitimate interests to promote our other services that we think you might be interested in.

Where you are a new customer and have opted in via our website or app to receive updates on our services including offers, promotions and new services, we will process your personal data to provide you these updates in line with the preferences you have provided and will only use your personal data in this way with your consent.

You can withdraw your consent to marketing at any time by contacting us at privacy@kinnu.xyz or, where relevant, by following the unsubscribe link in any marketing communication you receive from us.

  • When you participate in these research activities, the information you provide will be used to test, improve, and develop our products. We will record the video, audio and text transcriptions of this feedback together with any additional contact information you provide and will retain this data for two years. We collect this information with your consent. We may retain anonymous or aggregated information which cannot be traced back to you indefinitely.

We may conduct some of our product research activities with third parties such as academic institutions.

  • When you use our website and consent to our use of cookies or other tracking technology we will collect information about how you use our website and app. We may use your personal data contained within this information to improve our website and app and to better understand how people use them. More details on the information we collect and how we do this is set out in our Cookie Policy below.
  • When you apply for a job with us we may collect your name, contact details, recruitment information (e.g. right to work documentation and references), test results, qualifications, accreditations and any other additional personal data we may require or receive from our recruitment partners. 

We will use your personal data to assess your suitability for our available roles. We do this in order to consider entering a contract of employment with you and to perform our contractual obligations. Where we process your right to work documentation, we will do so to comply with our legal obligations.

  • If our business is sold or restructured or is involved in negotiations for such a change we may process your personal data for this purpose because we have a legitimate interest to ensure our business can be continued by the buyer. If you object to our use of your personal data in this way, the buyer of our business may not be able to provide services to you.

Who do you share my data with?

  • Business partners, suppliers and sub processors and subcontractors for the performance of the contract we enter into with them or you. This may include AI providers who assist with the functionality of our AI chat.
  • Payment Providers to enable us to complete the transaction and enable us to enter into a contract with you for our services.
  • Regulators/Government Authorities/Law Enforcement Agencies if we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our terms of use and other agreements; or to protect our, our customers’ and others’ rights. This includes exchanging your personal data with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud and crime detection and protection.
  • Prospective buyers of our business under our legitimate interest to ensure our business can be continued by the buyer.
  • Professional advisors, such as lawyers, auditors and tax advisors under our legitimate interest to obtain advice in order to run our business and provide our services. We may also share data to take advice about how to comply with legal obligations. 
  • Academic Institutions, and Research, Marketing and Promotional Services Companies under or legitimate interest to better understand our users and how we can improve our service for their benefit. We may also share your personal data for product research activities, these may include surveys, interviews, and other types of feedback sessions. We share your details with these third parties where you have consented to being contacted by them for research purposes. 

Where do you store my data?

We store your data on third party servers which are based outside of the UK. When working with third parties we may need to transfer your personal data outside of the UK and / or EU.

Whenever we transfer your personal data outside of the UK and the EU, we will ensure it receives additional protection as required by law.

How long do you keep my data for?

We will only retain your personal data for as long as we need it unless we are required to keep it for longer to comply with our legal, accounting or regulatory requirements.

In some circumstances we may carefully anonymise your personal data so that it can no longer be associated with you, and we may use this anonymised information indefinitely without notifying you. We use this anonymised information to improve the way we work and our services. We may also use this anonymised information for statistical analysis and other research purposes.

We delete, deidentify, or anonymize any data about you as soon as it is reasonably practical, once you no longer use our services.

This website or the Kinnu apps may include links to third-party websites, plug-ins and applications. Clicking on those links or enabling those connections may allow third parties to collect or share data about you. We do not control these third-party websites and are not responsible for their privacy statements. When you leave our website, we encourage you to read the privacy policy of every website you visit

Please keep in mind that privacy law is complicated, and these rights will not always be available to you all of the time.

Our website, apps and services are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data of children. If you suspect that your child has signed up for our service, please contact us so we can ensure we remove their personal data and accounts.
