FAQ

Because Level I is not a “read-and-hope” exam.
You need to:
(1) spot what the curriculum is really testing,
(2) retrieve formulas and definitions under time pressure, and
(3) learn the exam’s recurring traps.
High-quality MCQs convert passive familiarity into exam-ready recall.

Fragmented prep wastes time: going from the textbook to flashcards to MCQs in the learning ecosystem is clunky.
Kinnu’s content is integrated. You can jump from the MCQs to the relevant notes in one click, and then add the right flashcards to your stack after reading them!
By keeping notes, MCQs, flashcards, and performance tracking in one flow, every wrong answer turns into learning and revision, not confusion.
Spaced repetition is a memorization technique that optimises exactly when you should be tested on things you have learned. Instead of “cramming” a topic and hoping it sticks, Kinnu’s algorithm resurfaces concepts just before you forget them. Helping them lodge in your long-term memory and ensuring that you remember important formulas and facts all the way to exam day (and beyond!).
“Good” questions do three things: they match exam difficulty and wording, they teach through explanations (including why tempting distractors are wrong), and they stay consistent across the bank.
Kinnu uses a hybrid drafting process: bespoke AI + layers of expert review.
Our question bank is continuously improving in both quantity and quality.
Every single piece of learning content on our website has been reviewed multiple times by experts who have passed CFA Level I or higher – most have passed Level III or are Charterholders.
We put our Content Quality Specialists through multiple rounds of testing and interviews, to ensure their expertise in the subject matter.
Because your gut feeling lies. Kinnu knows what you don’t know. Analytics show which topics you think you know versus what you can actually retrieve in MCQs, under timing pressure, across weeks.
Tracking turns revision into a plan: diagnose → target → retest → confirm.
Track (1) accuracy overall and by topic, (2) time per question, (3) repeated error patterns, and (4) performance in mixed-topic sets.
Use AI for targeted clarification, e.g:
– “How should you rearrange the formula?”
– “Why is this option wrong?”
– “Can you give me an example of this concept in practice?”
The friction with LLMs though, is context: they don’t know what you’re currently looking at. Kinnu’s LARA is embedded into the exact note/MCQ/flashcard you’re studying, so you get precise answers instantly without copy-pasting and context engineering.
No more “You are a CFA Level I expert…” LARA already is.
The exam is designed to be tight on time. Train a simple rhythm: keep moving, flag and return, and aim to spend roughly the recommended time per question. Most timing problems come from “wrestling” with a few questions; practice sets under timed conditions is how you fix that.
Enough that you stop being surprised. A strong rule of thumb is: lots of topic-specific questions early (to learn) and plenty of mixed-topic sets later (to simulate exam reality). Your target isn’t a magical number – it’s stable accuracy and stable timing across all topic areas.
Start early – straight away even. Doing questions early exposes gaps you didn’t know you had and prevents the classic trap of finishing readings but being unable to answer exam-style prompts.
By weight, the biggest topics are:
1) Ethics
2) Fixed Income
3) Financial Statement Analysis
4) Equity Investments
But that doesn’t mean you should over-index on them. Time Value of Money in Quantitative Methods, for example, is foundational for the rest of the curriculum. Kinnu’s MCQs are weighted by topic importance, to best mirror the knowledge you need to pass the exam.
The CFA Institute uses your Ethics score as a “tie-breaker.” If your total score is right on the edge of the Minimum Passing Score (MPS), a strong performance in Ethics can push you into a “Pass.” Conversely, a poor Ethics score could result in a “Fail” for a borderline candidate. So you should drill as many Ethics questions as you can find… Start mastering Ethics today with Kinnu.
